Black & White Photography

Are you an admirer of vintage, black and white photography? Have you worked with black and white film in the past, but find yourself dissatisfied with the results you get using your digital camera?  Learn to visualize your world in black and white and produce striking images in black and white with this 3-week course.

In this course we will discuss a variety of compositional strategies, quality of light, and recommendations for postprocessing.  Hands-on shooting will supplement our conversations, and we will practice techniques including HDR, use of filters, and lighting for glamorous portraits. 

Finally, we examine some historical heavyweights of black and white photography, from Ansel Adams and Edward Weston to Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ezra Stoller, for inspiration.
