Pic of the Week By Gabrielle Vincent The story behind 📸 : During this lesson, students shoot both your typical, wide-angle, "postcard-style" photos of a specific place and return each week throughout the whole course. Additionally, they are also asked to spend some time exploring🔍 and scouting the area, without necessarily taking any photos right away, in order to learn to pay attention to interesting details that can tell us more about a place, as well as to take notice of their own emotional response to the location and what they see there. This way, they are able to bring a unique👌🏻 take on the location to their photos📷, which is exactly what Gabbie accomplished in this particular image. Gabbie noticed the reflection in this puddle and tied everything together by also making great use of lines in this composition, which is the final part of the assignment--to use repeating lines to emphasize a certain feeling or idea that relates to the place they are photographing. In this case, her use of vertical lines is a great way to bring out the height and scale of the pillars of the George Washington Bridge🌉.
